PLN 5 Webinar

Going 1:1 with Google for Education

I watched a Webinar about 1:1 technology. This means that every student will have access to technology, such as iPads, in their classroom. In this day in age, technology is all around. Teachers and higher ups have begun to transform education using technology to their benefit. I chose this because it will be affecting me soon when I become a teacher!
Open technology is the key to education at Google Education. They want to help students be open to a world of possibilities and have four tenants to express their program. These are: empowerment, choice, teamwork, and scalability. These are what will help make the student well rounded with technology. Teachers need to adapt and change the way they teach by having reliable and secure devices.
I will use this in my teaching because every student will have access to a laptop or iPad, so I will need to start learning as much as I can about technology! I really like how they talked about virtual lessons, where you can learn about sea turtles without ever having to go on a field trip. I think technology makes lessons so much more interesting. I really hope my students can each have an iPad one day. This could be used to my benefit the most because I am familiar with this device.
